In the swift profession of worldwide dental healthcare, it is only by embracing an international perspective that we can sustain our depth of expertise; it is only through continuous improvement that we can fulfill the trust bestowed upon us by our patients.

From March 13 to 15, 2026, the Great Taipei International Dental Exhibition and Convention will be held. It is not only an academic event but also a proclamation that Taiwan’s dental community demonstrates the strength and confidence to align with the international community and to lead in clinical trends. 

This year’s convention has been changed to three days for the first time. At the inaugural event, held on the afternoon of March 13, we invited several countries from Northeast and Southeast Asia, bringing together opinion leaders in dentistry to discuss the dental healthcare systems in countries along the Pacific Rim’s western coast. Standardized case studies will be distributed to the leaders’ associations within the respective countries. On the same basis, the treatment of comparable cases across different regions and among dentists with varying levels of expertise, as well as the income levels of dentists from different countries, will be discussed. This will foster mutual understanding, and facilitate learning and encouragement among them to improve, ultimately contributing to a broader pathway for the future development of Taiwan’s dental policies. 

On Day 2 and Day 3, world-renowned expert Dr. Christopher Moule, alongside distinguished domestic speakers Dr. Liu Chun-Lin and Dr. Chen Yen-Wei, all of whom hold extensive clinical and academic qualifications, will be gathered. This shall be the most comprehensive and forward-looking academic mix in recent years, covering key details of dental bonding core theory and clinical success, treatment approaches amid digitalization, and the ultimate goal of zero bone resorption in tooth implantation, all of which are elaborately and intricately linked. 

This precisely aligns with the objectives pursued by Taipei City and New Taipei City’s convention.

Concerning the convention, several prominent speakers have been specially invited to establish a professional assembly of the highest caliber. They encompass Dr. Liu Chun-Lin, renowned for his clinical strength and innovative approach, whose practical courses consistently sell out shortly after being released. This indicates the students’ high anticipation for this teaching charisma and clinical techniques. Simultaneously, a substantial amount of funds has been allocated to invite Dr. Chen Yen-Wei, an expert in prosthetics and reconstructive aesthetics. Dr. Chen has substantial teaching experience at the University of Washington and offers a unique perspective, along with exemplary clinical cases in digital reconstructive aesthetics. More importantly, both Dr. Liu Chun-Lin and Dr. Chen Yen-Wei deliver lectures in Mandarin without any language barriers, allowing for swift and error-free comprehension. The Great Taipei International Dental Exhibition & Convention, abbreviated as GTIDEC, is an annual event co-organized by the Taipei Dental Association and the New Taipei City Dental Association, which began in 2013. It is also commonly referred to as Taipei City and New Taipei City’s convention. Over the years, through the dedicated efforts of the convention’s preparatory committee cadres and staff, the convention has expanded to become the largest in Taiwan in terms of participant numbers, with the highest number of exhibitor booths (448 in total). It also encompasses oral health exhibitions featuring over one hundred participating vendors, showcasing the latest dental diagnostic and treatment equipment, the research and development of more durable and aesthetically appealing materials, and the latest software and AI-assisted robot navigation applications that contribute to smart development. Throughout the exhibition period, local and international dentists, dental technologists, dental assistants and consultants, and those with an interest in the oral health sector are expected to participate. The Dental Exhibition Division is commended for their substantial contribution to this accomplishment, promoting mutually benefiting outcomes for all parties involved.

International academic conferences and programs are also the climax of the GTIDEC. This year, Professor Liu Chun-Lin from the University of Pennsylvania has been invited to impart the fundamentals of interdisciplinary integrative treatment, thereby paving the way for a new paradigm in modern dental team collaboration. Professor Chen Yen-Wei of the University of Washington, who specializes in digital design for aesthetic reconstruction and restoration, has also been invited to speak about smart innovation and multidisciplinary treatment plan applications in the AI era. This distinguished collaboration, aligned with this year’s “Smart Innovation in a Collaborative Effort by Taipei City and New Taipei City” theme is expected to sustain the momentum from last year’s academic events, setting a new record for the highest number of registrations for a single domestic academic event. Over one thousand dental professionals will convene to acquire the latest and most relevant knowledge in dentistry, alongside advancements in concepts and techniques. The Academic Division’s meticulously organized practical courses are also widely acclaimed, with 66 seats sold out in seconds and every seat filled.

The attendance and exchange among international guests are also given emphasis. In addition to exceptional international evening banquet performances, Friday afternoon, March 13 will feature an international forum along with exchange and discussion sessions, aimed at gaining insight into the current practices in various countries and policy direction. It is anticipated that further in-depth exchanges and interactions will strengthen the bond between the GTIDEC and its sister conventions in other countries. 

Additionally, to aid attendees in locating exhibition booths and to enhance vendors’ advertising and publicity, the Information Division has updated the exhibition’s website, offering a fresh look for easier browsing and use.

Lastly, appreciation is extended once again to all the convention’s preparatory committee cadres and staff for their unwavering dedication to scheduling and preparing the discussions around the clock. The aim is to present exemplary results to all the member dentists and foreigners, allowing Taiwan’s dental health and oral health sectors to continue to flourish.
